What is the Vietnamese e-visa?
Vietnam Electronic Visa, also known as Vietnam eVisa, is an official travel document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department to foreign visitors. It gives foreigners permission to enter and exit Vietnam multiple times within 90 days. It is considered the most convenient way to obtain a visa for Vietnam before departure.
The procedures for obtaining an electronic visa are relatively simple. Foreigners do not need to visit Vietnamese embassies abroad or use intermediaries to apply for a visa. The issuance of e-visas involves pre-approval, which allows immigration authorities to screen ineligible persons, ensuring better administration.
Currently, Vietnamese e-visas issued by the Immigration Department through the electronic system are valid for single and multiple entry.
Vietnam currently grants e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories.
With this type of visa, one can enter Vietnam through one of 13 airports, 16 land border gates and 13 sea border gates. Please note that you can only enter the country through the port of entry you have chosen in your e-visa application and which is indicated on the document.
Currently, Vietnam's e-visa is valid for stays up to 90 days from the date of entry.

Phu Quoc is the only part of Vietnam where travelers from more than 80 countries can enter without a visa.
This exemption only applies if you do not leave the island. If you are planning to visit the mainland of Vietnam as well, you must enter Phu Quoc Island already with a visa, which you can apply for online or at the Vietnamese Embassy. Visa-free stay on the island is possible for a maximum of 30 days and is subject to a minimum passport validity of 6 months.
The visa-free regime on Phu Quoc was introduced in 2014 as part of the Vietnamese government's efforts to boost tourism and development on the island. This is because Phu Quoc is planned to be one of the main tourist destinations in Vietnam, offering not only beautiful surroundings but also modern infrastructure, services and entertainment.
