Join us for a day tour to Long Tan and Nui Dat, two of the most significant sites of the Vietnam War. You will learn about the history and stories of the Australian and Vietnamese soldiers who fought and died there, and see the memorials and tunnels that remain today. We will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and drive to Long Tan Commune in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. On the way, we will meet our local guide in Vung Tau City, who will share with you his knowledge and insights about the war. Our first destination is Nui Dat SAS Hill, the former base of the Australian Task Force. You will see where the helicopters landed and the soldiers camped, and hear about the key events that took place there. You will also have a panoramic view of the surrounding area, which was once a 4km circle of fortified perimeter. Next, we will visit the rubber plantation where the Battle of Long Tan happened in 1966. You will see the Long Tan Cross Memorial, which honors the 18 Australian and more than 200 Vietnamese casualties of the battle. You will also learn about the tactics and strategies of both sides and how the weather and terrain affected the outcome. Finally, we will explore the Long Phuoc Tunnels, which were built by the Viet Minh and Viet Cong as a shelter and a base for guerrilla warfare. You will see how they lived and fought underground, and how they resisted the attacks of the enemy. After visiting these historical sites, we will drive back to Ba Ria for a late lunch at a local restaurant. You can choose from a variety of dishes, including some specialties of this region. After a short break, we will return to Ho Chi Minh City.

After breakfast. Start your journey to Con Dao Island with our tour guide, who will pick you up at your hotel around 8:00 AM. You will then board a flight to this paradise island, where a car will be waiting for you at the airport or the port. You will check in at your hotel or resort in Con Dao and enjoy some free time. You can relax in your room or explore the island’s natural beauty. You can swim in the clear water, sunbathe on the sandy beach, or feel the breeze on your skin. You can also have a romantic dinner under the stars and taste the local cuisine. You will spend the night at your hotel or resort and get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Discover the history and culture of Con Dao Island on this full-day tour. You will visit the places that witnessed the suffering and courage of the Vietnamese people during the colonial era and the war. Con Dao Museum: Learn about the history of Con Dao from the French occupation to the present day. See the artifacts, antiques, photos, and documents that tell the stories of the island and its people. Phu Hai Prison: See the prison where thousands of communist soldiers were imprisoned and tortured. Hear about the legends of the Rice Grinding Tunnel and the Dark Compartment, where the most brutal punishments were inflicted. Tiger Cage System: Explore the hidden network of tiger cages, where prisoners were kept in inhumane conditions. Compare the French-style and American-style tiger cages, and see how they differed in design and function. Hang Duong Cemetery: Pay your respects to the thousands of Vietnamese revolutionaries and patriots who died on Con Dao. Visit the grave of Heroine Vo Thi Sau, a young girl who fought against the French and became a symbol of resistance. Dat Doc Beach: Relax and enjoy the beauty of Con Dao’s nature. Swim in the clear water, walk on the sandy beach, or take some photos of the stunning scenery. You will have lunch and dinner at a local restaurant, where you can taste the delicious cuisine of Con Dao.

Experience the natural wonders of Bay Canh Island, the second largest island in Con Dao archipelago. You will take a boat ride to this island, which is covered with pristine tropical forests and rich in wildlife. You will have a full-day adventure on this island, where you can choose from two exciting activities: trekking and snorkelling. You can trek through the mangrove forests and learn about the ecosystem that supports many species of plants and animals. Or you can snorkel in the clear water and admire the colorful coral reefs that are diverse and abundant. Either way, you will have a memorable time on this beautiful island.

After having breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you can make the most of your leisure time to go shopping, swimming or relaxing until the car comes. You will be taken to the airport for flight boarding to Danang.

Explore the cultural and historical attractions of Da Nang and Hue on this tour. You will see the following places: Marble Mountains: These are five limestone hills that represent the five elements of nature. They are also home to many caves, pagodas, and statues. You will learn about the religious and historical significance of these mountains, and enjoy the scenic views. Cham Museum: This is the largest museum of Cham art and culture in Vietnam. You will see the exhibits and artifacts that showcase the history and achievements of the Cham people, who ruled central Vietnam from the 2nd to the 15th century. China Beach: This is a famous beach that was used as a rest and recreation area by the US soldiers during the war. You will have some time to swim in the sea, relax on the sand, or visit the nearby shops and restaurants. Da Nang Airfield: This is a former military airbase that was used by both the US and South Vietnamese forces during the war. You will see what remains of the runway, hangars, and buildings, and hear about some of the major units that were stationed there. Red Beach: This is where the first US Marines landed in Vietnam in 1965, marking the start of the large-scale American involvement in the war. You will see the monument that commemorates this event, and learn about its impact on the war. Hai Van Pass: This is a mountain pass that separates Da Nang from Hue. It was a strategic location for both the French and US forces during their wars in Vietnam. You will see the bunkers and fortifications that they built on the pass, and admire the stunning view of the coast and mountains. Hue: This is the former imperial capital of Vietnam, where you will check in at your hotel. Hue is famous for its historical and cultural heritage, such as the Citadel, the tombs, and the pagodas. You will have a chance to explore these attractions on the next day.

Explore the Citadel and the Flag Tower HUE, where some of the most intense battles and the longest Viet Cong resistance took place during the Tet Offensive of 1968. The Citadel was the royal palace of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of Vietnam. You will see the magnificent architecture and the historical relics of this complex, which is also known as the Forbidden City. You will have some free time to wander around and discover more on your own or with others (if in the group).

In the morning, you will have free time to experience the daily life of local people at the market and buy local products. Then, we will transfer to the airport to fly to Hanoi. A late lunch will be served in Hanoi before you are transferred back to your hotel.

Travel to Dien Bien, the site of the historic battle that ended the French colonial rule in Vietnam. You will fly from Hanoi to Dien Bien in about 1 hour and 20 minutes, without any stopovers. After landing, you will have lunch and check in at Muong Thanh Hotel. In the afternoon, you will explore the places where the Dien Bien Phu Campaign took place in 1954. You will visit the Dien Bien Phu Museum, where you can see the exhibits and artifacts related to the battle. You will also see the bunker of Colonel Christian de Castries, the French commander who was captured by the Vietnamese forces. Then, you will go to A1 Hill, where the fiercest fighting occurred and where the Vietnamese flag was raised in victory. You will return to the hotel around 7 PM for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Continue your journey to the past with a visit to more historical sites related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. You will have breakfast at the hotel and then head out to see the following places: Muong Thanh Bridge: This is an old bridge that was built by the French and used by both sides during the battle. It is now preserved as a relic and closed to motorized traffic. You can walk on the bridge and feel the history. Pirot Bunker: This is where Lieutenant Colonel Pirot, the chief artillery commander of the French forces, killed himself with a grenade after his position was overrun by the Vietnamese troops. You can see the remains of his bunker and learn about his tragic fate. Giap Command Post: This is where General Vo Nguyen Giap, the commander-in-chief of the Vietnamese army, directed the operations that led to the victory over the French. You can see his simple hut and his command table, and hear about his brilliant strategies and tactics. You will return to the hotel at 7 PM and have dinner at Muong Thanh Hotel, where you can enjoy some local specialties. You will spend another night in Dien Bien Phu.

Before leaving Dien Bien Phu, you will have some free time in the morning to explore the local market and buy some souvenirs. You will see the colorful and lively scene of the market, where people sell and buy various products, such as fruits, vegetables, spices, handicrafts, and clothes. Then, we will take you to the airport to catch your flight back to Hanoi. You will have a late lunch in Hanoi, where you can taste some of the famous dishes of the capital city, such as pho, bun cha, or cha ca. After lunch, we will drive you back to your hotel and say goodbye to you. We hope you enjoyed your trip to Dien Bien Phu and learned a lot about the history and culture of this place.

Enjoy your last morning in Ha Noi at your own pace. You can shop for some souvenirs, or relax at your hotel. When it’s time to leave, a car will pick you up and take you to the airport. You will board a flight back to your home country.
