Noi Bai International Airport (HAN)
Is the second busiest airport in Vietnam and one of the main gateways for international travelers arriving in the country. Located approximately 30 km north of Hanoi city center, the airport serves both domestic and international routes and operates 24 hours a day.
Major airlines operating here include Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and several international carriers connecting Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Flights to Hanoi
Flights to Hanoi from Europe usually involve one stopover. The average total travel time from major European cities ranges between 15–20 hours depending on the route and airline.
Common transfer hubs include Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Shanghai, and other major Asian aviation hubs.
Terminals and Transfers at Hanoi Airport
Noi Bai Airport has two main terminals:
Terminal 1 (T1) – Domestic flights
Terminal 2 (T2) – International flights
The terminals are located approximately 300 meters apart. A free shuttle bus operates between them every 10–15 minutes from early morning until after midnight.
If you arrive internationally and connect to a domestic flight:
You must pass immigration control
Collect your luggage
Transfer to the domestic terminal
Check in again for your next flight
For international-to-domestic transfers, allow at least 90 minutes, ideally 120–150 minutes.
Transfers within the same terminal are generally straightforward, and around 60 minutes is usually sufficient.
Avoid Long Immigration Lines at Hanoi Airport (HAN)
After arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, long queues at immigration are common — especially when multiple long-haul flights land at the same time. Waiting times can sometimes exceed one hour.
The Vietnam Airport Fast Track service allows travelers to pass through immigration via priority assistance, reducing waiting time significantly — typically to around 5–15 minutes.
The service is operated by the local Vietnam CK team directly at the airport and is especially useful for late-night arrivals, tight schedules, families, or travelers who prefer a smooth and stress-free arrival experience.✨
