Travelers stuck on the official SGN Immigration portal
Since the introduction of the mandatory Vietnam Digital Arrival Card on April 15, 2026, many travelers have completed the new form without any problems. However, some passengers are encountering technical issues that prevent them from completing the form or obtaining their QR code.
The most common problems include the “Passport Blacklist” message and situations where a hotel or address cannot be found in the required dropdown menus.
If you are dealing with one of these errors, there is usually no reason to panic. In this guide, VIETNAM CK explains the most common problems we have seen and the practical steps you can take to complete your arrival form before your flight to Vietnam.

“Passport Blacklist” Error: Don’t Panic
One of the most worrying messages you can see when submitting the Vietnam Digital Arrival Card is “Passport Blacklist.”
In many cases, this does not mean that your passport is actually blacklisted. The message can appear when the system cannot validate some of the information entered in the form. Similar reports have been linked to problems with address information, special characters and expired sessions.
Why can this happen?
Some of the problems travelers have reported include:
- Address information: The accommodation details have to match the options available in the system. Problems can occur when the selected district, ward or address information does not match the system's database.
- Special characters: Some travelers have reported errors when using characters such as /, # or commas in address fields.
- Expired session: If you leave the form open for too long, the session can expire and the submission may fail.
What should you do?
Before trying again, start with a fresh session:
- Close the current form.
- Open a new Incognito/Private browser window.
- Enter the information again carefully.
- Check your accommodation details, particularly the district and ward.
- If the system continues to reject the form, try simplifying the text entered in address fields and avoid unnecessary special characters.
The important point is that seeing “Passport Blacklist” on the screen does not automatically mean that you have been placed on an immigration blacklist. It can be a system validation problem, so try the steps above before assuming there is a problem with your passport or visa.
🏨 Problem: My Hotel is Not in the List
The new SGN immigration portal uses a hierarchical address system: Province → District → Ward (Phường) → Street.
This can be confusing because you may know your hotel's name and street, but not the exact Ward (Phường) required by the form. Some hotels and other accommodations may also be difficult to find in the dropdown menus.
How to solve the address dropdown problem
1. Check your Ward on Google Maps
If you are not sure which Ward your accommodation is in, search for the hotel on Google Maps and check its full address. The address will usually show the Ward number or name, such as Phường 12 or Phường Bến Nghé.
Use the Ward that matches the actual location of your accommodation rather than guessing.
2. What if your hotel is not listed?
If your hotel does not appear in the dropdown, first check that you have selected the correct Province, District and Ward. The available accommodation options can depend on these selections.
If the accommodation is still not available, choose the closest matching option that accurately represents the area where you will be staying, rather than entering completely unrelated information.
3. If your street is not available
The same problem can occur with the Street field. If your exact street is not listed, check whether it appears under a different spelling or Vietnamese name.
If it is genuinely missing, select the closest available street that corresponds to your accommodation area and make sure the rest of the address information is correct.
The important thing is to keep the information as accurate and consistent as the system allows. The dropdown menus are there to match your accommodation to the address database, so do not assume that a missing hotel means there is a problem with your visa or passport.

If the Form Does Not Submit
If the form looks correct but the Submit button remains unavailable or the QR code is not generated after submission, try the following steps.
- Try a desktop or laptop: The portal can be used on mobile devices, but if you are having problems with dropdown menus or submitting the form, try a desktop or laptop with Google Chrome.
- Check your passport photo: The form requires an image of the passport information page. If the upload does not work or the form becomes unresponsive, check the file size and format and try uploading a smaller, clear image in a commonly supported format such as JPG or PNG.
- Turn off your VPN: If you are using a VPN, temporarily disable it and try again. A VPN can sometimes interfere with websites that use location or network security checks. This is a simple step worth trying before repeating the entire form.
If the problem continues, close the form and start again in a new browser session rather than repeatedly clicking Submit on the same page.
What If You Still Cannot Get the QR Code?
If you have tried the troubleshooting steps above and still cannot complete the form, do not assume that you need to cancel your trip.
However, if you are flying soon, we recommend making one more attempt before leaving for the airport. Start a fresh browser session, check all of your information again and make sure you are using the current official arrival form.
If the system is still not working, keep a record of the problem — for example, take a screenshot of the error message. This can be useful if you need to explain the situation after arrival.
If You Arrive Without a QR Code
The exact procedure at the airport can depend on the current immigration system and whether there is a temporary technical problem. Airport procedures can also change as the new system is updated.
For that reason, we would not rely on being able to complete the form at the airport. If you can complete the Vietnam Digital Arrival Card before your flight, that is by far the better option.
If the problem appears to be a wider system outage rather than an error with your individual form, follow the instructions given by airport or immigration staff after arrival.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
The Vietnam Digital Arrival Card is still a relatively new system, so you may encounter occasional technical problems while completing the form. The best approach is to stay calm, check your information carefully and try the troubleshooting steps above before assuming there is a problem with your passport or visa.
If a particular hotel, street or address is not available in the dropdown menus, use the information that most accurately matches your actual accommodation. Do not deliberately enter incorrect information just to get the form submitted.
If the form does not work, try starting a new browser session, checking your internet connection and completing the form again. If you are still unable to submit it, keep a screenshot of the error and follow the instructions provided by immigration or airport staff.
At VIETNAM CK, we keep an eye on changes to Vietnam's entry procedures so that our clients can prepare for their arrival with as little uncertainty as possible.
FAQ: Troubleshooting the Arrival Card
No. Once the Vietnam Digital Arrival Card has been submitted, you cannot edit the submitted form directly.
If you notice a serious mistake, such as an incorrect passport number or name, do not assume that you can simply replace the submitted declaration with a new one. The immigration system may not allow another submission for the same traveler.
If you have already received a QR code but some information is incorrect, keep your passport and the QR code and check the current instructions from Vietnam immigration or your airline before travelling. If the error is significant, we recommend resolving it before your flight rather than relying on the incorrect QR code.
